Sonia unhappy with MNREGS,road schemes in Rae Bareli

According to sources,Sonia came prepared with all facts and figures — especially regarding the performance of MNREGA and utilisation of funds for the construction of roads — in the meeting. “She said that it is sad that in many places,only 12 to 15 people from the SC/ST categories have got work under MNREGS. She also expressed concern that only 23 disabled people have got jobs under the scheme,” said a Congress leader,who attended the meeting.

Sonia also inquired about pending roads under various schemes — be it from the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sarak Yojana or from the Central Road Fund. Since she did not receive any satisfactory reply on the status of the roads,she directed the district officials to prepare a detailed report on all the sanctioned roads,funds released and their exact status at present.

Saying that funds have been released from the Centre,but these roads are stuck at the state level,Sonia asked the officials to prepare the report before the meeting of the next vigilance and monitoring committee. She also asked the district magistrate to send a reminder to the state government on the pending projects in the district.

Among others,the meeting was attended by officials of the district administration,members of the Legislative Assembly and Block pramukhs. Sonia left for Delhi in around 3.30 pm.
