Soon,state ration cards to have bar code,says Minister

Speaking on the budgetary demands of his department in the state Assembly,the minister said that new ration cards will be issued and monetary provision of Rs 4 crore has been made in the budget to implement the new initiative.

The technology would help curb illegal use of ration cards,he said.

Moreover,separate coloured ration cards will be issued to the families belonging to below poverty line (BPL) and above poverty line (APL).

The minister stressed on the use of technology in the public distribution system to bring transparency.
