Shibu Soren is in the news again. This time it’s not because of any political reasons nor due to a legal case, but for his entry into the ever growing business of Bhojpuri music. In his debut album, recorded by a local documentary film-maker Santosh Giri, who is expected to release it before the Assembly elections in December-January, Guruji will be seen as a father blessing his daughter and son-in-law. “It will be a super hit among the tribals,” hopes Giri. However, Soren’s rivals do not think so. A BJP worker said: “We doubt if this album will be popular with a ‘super flop’ leader playing a role in it.”

Transport dept wants Dhoni to pay penalty

Team India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is on a sticky wicket in his hometown where the state transport department plans to take Rs 100 as fine from him for not registering his new silver grey Hummer H2 luxury SUV within the prescribed period of seven days of its arrival here. A Dhoni fan claimed that the cricketer had applied for registration, but the form submitted was incomplete. Ranchi District Transport Officer A K Bagla said: “Since he has not completed the formalities of getting it registered within the prescribed time frame, he has to pay the fine, as per the law.” This is the second time Dhoni will have to pay a penalty in connection with his vehicle. In 2006, Dhoni was fined for having tinted windowpanes in his car.
