A medical report filed in the Supreme Court by a special medical team of a Kolkata hospital on Friday backed allegations raised by Maoist sympathiser Soni Sori that she was tortured in police custody in Chhattisgarh.
The report by a team of doctors from the NRS Medical College and Hospital,Kolkata is believed to have reported removal of certain “foreign objects” from her private parts, sources said.
Sori,a tribal teacher, had on Monday filed an affidavit alleging that policemen had tortured her by thrusting pebbles into her private parts.
A bench of Justices Altamas Kabir and S S Nijjar on Friday said it would take up the matter for further hearing on Friday next and in the meantime permitted senior counsel Colin Gonzalves appearing for Sori and Chhattisgarh counsel Atul Jha to peruse the findings.
The apex court had earlier directed that an independent medical test be done on Sori at the NRS Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.
The bench, while passing the direction, had observed that injuries suffered by Sori does not prima facie seem to be as simple as they were made out to be.
