Senior BJP leader L K Advani on Thursday rejected Prime Minister Manmohan Singhs observation that he was making harsh comments against him. He also asked West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to speak out against corruption in the UPA government. Advani said he was just making factual observations. This is not a harsh observation, this is a factual observation, Advani said in Kolkata as his Jana Chetana Yatra arrived in West Bengal. He said he is personally aware of a number of cases where the Prime Minister did not give clearance because there was no clearance from 10 Janpath. In democracy, the Prime Minister is the last word and the buck stops there, Advani said, adding that the Prime Ministers approach to work is not good for the country and governance. Advani questioned why an outspoken politician like Mamata Banerjee is silent on corruption in the central government. I know Mamataji for years and she is an outspoken politician and at times have pointed at our faults. But these days she is not saying anything on corruption in the central government, he said. He said for the government of a state to work properly, one should muster courage to say what is wrong. Advani, who in the past had refrained from making comments against Mamata, said he has got a perception that though there has been a change of guard after so many years, there seems to be no change in governance. I have asked my friends if things have changed after the change in government. They told me it does not seem so. I do not know why it has not happened, he said. Advani said in case he meets the chief minister or the state finance minister whom he knows well,he will ask about it. BJP leader and partys national spokesperson Shahnawaj Hussain said the allies should jump out of the ship of the Congress government, which is going to sink quickly.
