Speedy Singhs tells the story of a young Sikh lad,Rajveer Singh (Vinay Virmani),who lives in a suburb in Toronto. Rajveer is an aspiring ice-hockey player, but because of his race,he fails to secure a place for himself in the local hockey team even after cutting his hair in an effort to look more Canadian. So he gathers his Punjabi buddies to form a team of their own and appoints Dan Winters (Rob Lowe) as the coach. The film about a small group of South-East Asian immigrants trying to form a hockey team strongly reminds us of co-producer Akshay Kumar’s Patiala House— except that in the film Akshay was an aspiring bowler.
