Being the chief of Special Protection Group, which provides security to the Prime Minister, didnt help B V Wanchoo much when his vehicle was stopped by Delhi Police personnel posted at the outer gate of AIIMS where Manmohan Singh is recuperating after a coronary surgery.

The incident took place on Sunday morning when SPG Director B V Wanchoo arrived in his official car at the AIIMS and was not allowed to enter the premises by alert constables posted at the main gate.

The Prime Ministers first cousin Amar Singh Kohli, who had come in a private taxi from Dehradun, also had to walk down from the main gate as the security personnel did not want to take any chance with PMs safety.

I could not meet the Prime Minister, but I had a word with his wife who said that his (Singhs) condition is okay and he has been taken off the ventilator, Kohli said after coming out of the CVTS unit.

The next in line was Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia whose vehicle was also stopped at the main gate.

Both Ahluwalia and his wife then walked down to the centre to meet the Prime Minister.
