Sporting activities to get boost in J&K: Chief Minister

J-K CM Omar Abdullah has reiterated his Govt's keen interest in the development of sporting activities in the state.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday reiterated his government’s keen interest in the development of sporting activities and improvement of infrastructural facilities in the state.

“We have both potential as well talent and only proper nurturing and coaching is required to boost sports activities and attain excellence in sports,” he said during the prize distribution ceremony of the 20th State Football Championship in Jammu on Tuesday.

Omar said hosting sports events in the state would encourage the young sportspersons and provide them avenues to exhibit their skill and talent.

“Such activities require to be given boost both at the provincial and the district levels,” he added.

The 20th State Football Championship was organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association which is affiliated to All India Football Federation. As many as 32 teams from all over the state participated in the tournament in which J&K Bank emerged winners,defeating J&K Forest 3-1 in the penalty shootout.
