"So I got banned, now the IOA gets banned, they says things like these normally happen in three's.. Wonder what's next!!" Bhupathi wrote on his twitter page.
Former India archery coach and three-time Olympian Limba Ram said the suspension is a "big insult" on the country's face.
"It is a big insult for India. It has put our future in the dark. So we have to bring a quick solution to the problem," he said.
Olympian and Asian Games silver medallist archer Tarundeep Rai said the suspension is a big loss for the athletes and held IOA responsible for the present scenario.
"It's a tragedy for us. The suspension means we can't compete in any competition. The officials who are running the show at IOA should be ashamed of themselves. We have put our everything to represent the country and earn medals but now it's all over," he said.
His team-mate and fellow archer Rahul Banerjee added: "We are already going through a turmoil. There are chances that the Archery Association of India might be de-recognised. And now the IOA has been suspended, it's a double whammy. We hope that the players are not affected.
He spoken in favour of the government's Sports Code and said there is no harm in following the guidelines as it is in sync with the Olympic Charter.
"The main thing is that we could not have played in the World Cups without the support of the government or SAI. So I feel we should follow our Sports Code. If all other countries are following then why there's a problem with India," Banerjee added.
Olympian shooter Joydeep Karmakar too was taken aback by the IOC's decision.
"It is really shocking and unfortunate. It was known (to happen) but never thought that it will come so early. This is a real big blow for Indian sport. The athletes are totally heartbroken.
