Symbiosis School sweeps Zonal TT
Symbiosis School ensured a sweep in the U-14 boys, girls and U-17 girls table-tennis tournament held at Solapur. Dhruv Kusalkar won his final match against Devang Gujrathi of St. Michael's school 11-7, 11-5, 11-4. Anand Kale swept aside Sidhant Monot 11-8, 11-7, 11-9 and Manthan Shah won his match against Yash Buttepatil 11-7, 11-4, 11-5. In the U-14 girls category, Symbiosis' Savi Dagle defeated Aditi Kulkarni of Shanti English Medium School 11-7, 11-9, 11-9. Priyanka Tamhankar defeated Samrudhi Kulkarni 11-4, 11-3, 11-2 and Harshita Bhandari won against Vaishnavi Kulkarni 11-7, 11-9, 11-8. In the U-17 category Purva Gidwani won against Devashri Joshi 11-7, 11-4, 11-9. Riya Deshpande defeated Devashree Joshi by 11-8, 9-11, 11-7, 11-9. Deshpande also accounted for Siddhi Mobharkar 11-4, 11-7, 11-8.
JN Petit wins football tourney
JN Petit Technical High School, Pune, emerged as the winners of the Sizzling 7 football tournament organised at the Symbiosis International University campus in Lavale. The three-day event, which began on October 19, saw 21 teams from across the country participate in the tournament. JN Petit faced Bhavans International School from Baroda in the final. The tournament was conducted as a part of the Blackburn Rovers Talent Hunt programme.
Om Dalvi Memorial tennis from Oct 27
The Om Dalvi Memorial Championship Series U-18 tennis tournament will begin on October 27 at the PYC Hindu Gymkhana. The 4th edition of the national ranking championship series will feature 150 players. The tournament carries a total prize money of Rs 1 lakh and the winner will also walk away with 25 AITA ranking points. The runner-up will get 20 points while the semifinalists and quarterfinalists will get 15 and 10 points, respectively. The qualifying rounds of the tournament will be played on October 27 and 28.
