Solomon, Sharma enter second round

Thirteen-year-old Atharva Sharma and Yavin Solomon entered the second round in the boys' u16 event at the Champion Sports Trophy All India Junior National Tennis Tournament being organised by the Pune Metropolitan District Tennis Association and played at MSLTA School of Tennis Court, Balewadi. Yavin Solomon of Orissa upset second seed Ankit Reddy 8-4 while Atharva Sharma edged out Akhilesh Jadhav of Karnataka 8-7 (6). Hussian Battiwala scraped past Vishal Kumar of Andhra Pradesh 8-7 (1). In the girls' u16 event, Neha Mokashi beat Rutuja Rajmane 8-0, while Tejasvi Kate beat Samruddhi Ghumare 8-2 to advance into the second round.

Cycling treasure hunt on Nov 25

MG's Sports & Fitness and PYC Gymkhana will be organising the Cycling Treasure Hunt on November 25 at 6 am from PYC Gymkhana, Pune. Mahendra Gokhale, director for the event, said the event would offer a total prize money of Rs 75,000. The treasure hunt will be a team event of three people per team, divided in various age categories — 14-30 years (50 km), 31-49 years (35 km) and 50 years onwards (25 km). The event is open to all, including children who can form a team of three. We would like families to be a part of the event and form teams. "Apart from riding bicycles through the city to find hidden clues. It is our effort to spread the concept of cycling and making it an enjoyable experience," he added. The registration forms are available at PYC Gymkhana Reception, all B U Bhandari branches, Lifecycle Mall Tilak Road, Bhargav Gym Bibwewadi, Feelings Flower Store on Prabhat Road and Uttam Medical, Karve Road. The last date for registration will be November 21, 2012.

FC Joseph, PIFA, Real Pune United win

FC Joseph, PIFA, DSK Shivajian's and Real Pune United scored contrasting wins to move into next round of the 3rd Division Peninsula Pune Football League Tournament organised by the Pune District Football Association at the Dobarwadi ground, Hadapsar. In the first match, thanks to goals by Charles Indergi, Michel Nathan and Rajesh Pillye, FC Joseph scored a 4-1 win over Pune Stellers. In the second match, Pune International Football Academy (PIFA) outplayed Arya SC B 1-0 with Akash Kothari scoring for the team. In another one-sided match, Prakash Patil scored two goals to help Real Pune United score a 2-0 win over Rajiv Sable Football Club, while DSK Shivajian's beat Lions PCH 1-0.
