Pune Marathon today; traffic advisory issued
The city will host the 27th Pune International Marathon on Sunday. A few stretches on Laxmi road, M G road, Karve road and Senapati Bapat road will be closed for traffic for some time between 7 am and 3 pm for the purpose. "Traffic will be halted to allow the runners to pass through a particular area and will be normalised immediately after the runners pass through. We appeal to citizens to make use of alternative routes and avoid the 42-km Marathon track," said a release issued by the traffic police. The marathon will begin at 7 am from Khandoji Baba Chowk. It will pass through Laxmi Road, Timber Market, Seven Loves Chowk, Golibar Maidan, M G Road, Council Hall, Mangaldas chowk, Blue Diamond Chowk, Koregaon Park, North Main Road, Kalyaninagar, Shastrinagar, Golf Club Chowk, Alandi Road Chowk, BEG, Holkar Bridge, Khadki Bazar, Bopodi Chowk, Chhajed petrol pump, Bhau Patil Road, Spicer College, Rajbhavan, University Chowk, Senapati Bapat Road, Law College Road, Nal Stop, Karve Road, Paud Road, Mhatre Bridge, Senadatta police chowky and end at the Nehru Stadium.
Symantec win opening fixture in Inter IT T20
Symantec bowlers were the toast of their side's exciting 7-run win over HSBC in the opening match of the ACI Inter-IT T20 Cup cricket tournament. Having set a competitive 140-run total, Symantec led by all rounder Mandar Kulkarni (2/23) along with Mayank Khubchandani (2/18) and Sumit Dighe (2/21) did well to restrict HSBC to 138. Symantec, on winning the toss, had Amit Singhal score a run-a-ball 45 and lead from the front. His effort included two fours and one six and included a second wicket partnership with Kedar Pathak that yielded 44 runs (43 balls). Later, Amit found able company in Mandar Kulkarni (32). Mandar was more aggressive utalising 20 balls which included three boundaries and one over the ropes.
