In another development in ISI agents case, the Detection of Crime Branch (Ahmedabad) on Wednesday picked up a suspect who was allegedly helping Sirajuddin Fakir, the arrested "ISI agent", to get information on Bhuj cantonment.
The detained boy, who is in his early twenties, was allegedly recruited by Fakir to work with him in the Army cantonments in Gujarat. The suspected agent used to supply eggs inside the Bhuj cantonment, police said.
Though the DCB officials have not revealed the identity of the suspect, they claimed that the suspected agent had three other helpers who were aiding him to collect information from the cantonment in Bhuj city of Kutch district. The DCB officials also claimed to have identified those suspected aides and are likely to be picked up soon for questioning.
According to the DCB officials, the suspected agent used to enter into the cantonment as a egg seller - the same way that was used by Fakir to enter in Ahmedabad, Bhuj and Gandhinagar cantonments. The suspect had developed contacts inside the cantonment to get regular inputs on all the developments.
Confirming the development, a senior officer from the DCB said, "This boy is an important link in the case who can give leads on the insiders of the cantonment involved in the case. It is not possible for these agents to get information about Indian Army without the help of sources inside."
This suspected agent is believed to be working as a manager with the same egg firm — 7 Stars Egg Mart — where Fakir worked. The egg store had reportedly got the contract of selling eggs inside the Ahmedabad and Bhuj cantonments.
The boy had deployed his aides to work in and around the cantonment to keep a close eye on the movements there, the officials added.
