Play was disrupted for about five minutes on the third day of the final Test between India and South Africa after seamer S Sreesanth was hit by empty bottles while mending the boundary line during the hosts second innings here.
The incident happened in the ninth over of South Africas second innings, when Sreesanth was fielding at the long leg area at Wynberg end. He immediately walked up to the umpire Simon Taufel and had a word.
Soon senior Indian players, including Rahul Dravid,VVS Laxman, and Mahendra Singh Dhoni got into a huddle and discussed the matter. Dhoni was seen smiling and having a light discussion with Sreesanth, while umpires Taufel and Ian Gould spoke over the walkie-talkie. Taufel also had a word with Dhoni. However, the match soon resumed.
Scare at stadium
Meanwhile,a fire scare broke out in the Newlands during the third day of the final Test after smoke was seen coming out of the kitchen adjacent to the members stand and below the Indian dressing room. The minor fire forced the authorities to scurry away players and spectators from that area. It was discovered that the smoke was coming out due to an oil-fire in one of the kitchens.
