  • With the flow of grants from the Gujarat government, Department of Paediatrics at Sir Sayajirao General (SSGH) Hospital is planning to expand its neonatal care unit to accommodate more patients.

The Department of Paediatrics has recently received an additional grant of Rs 45 lakh from the state government especially to upgrade the neonatal unit. The unit, which presently has a capacity of 35 beds, would be expanded.

“We have recently been informed about the grant that has been sanctioned. We have ample space for more beds. We had requested for the grant specifically for the expansion of the ward to accomodate more patients and more equipment,” said Bakulesh Javadekar, Head of the Paediatric department.

SSG hospital is the only government hospital in the state which has been given the additional grant. The work of expansion is expected to start in the next few months.
