  • The water level in the Sardar Sarovar Dam is likely to touch the 126 metre mark with the release of nearly 17,577 Cusecs from the upstream areas in Madhya Pradesh. At present, the water level at the dam is 121.92 metre.

According to Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited (SSNNL) officials, there has been a tremendous inflow in the dam due to heavy rains in the catchment areas in Madhya Pradesh.

The water level at the Bargi Dam, the biggest dam on the Narmada in Madhya Pradesh, has touched the 415.70 metre mark, said a senior SSNNL official. The water from the Bargi hydel station flows downstream to the dams of Indira Sagar and Omkareshwar power projects in Madhya Pradesh’s Khandwa district and then to the Sardar Sarovar Project (SSP) in Gujarat.

The official added: “The dam started overflowing around 10:30 in the morning of September 11, and at present, 5.5 lakh cusecs is flowing into the river.”
