J R Nur joined the postal department in the Mandi Post Office about 35 years ago as Postal Assistant. After serving at Shimla and Dharamshala in Himachal Pardesh, he has also worked in the Chandigarh Circle Office as Assistant Post Master General (Vigilance). Recently, he was appointed the Senior Superintendent (Post Offices) in Ludhiana. He shares his experiences and future plans with Anupam Bhagria.
How do you view your appointment?
It is indeed challenging to work here. Earlier, I was working under the guidance of Chief Post Master General, Punjab Circle, but now I am handling the independent charge of Ludhiana city division.
Have you set any priorities for the city?
I want to meet the targets of all the schemes being run by the Postal department. I also plan to launch various future schemes and projects for the welfare of clients.
How would you cope up with the common complaint of the postal department regarding heavy workload?
I will review each post office and rationalise the staff strength accordingly.
Is the 'Project Arrow' which aims to provide better facilities to customers is going on at a good pace?
The scheme is providing better facilities to customers. We get the schedule from the Circle Office in Chandigarh and implement it accordingly. We are implementing it as per the particular 'timeline’.
What plans do you have for the Ludhiana postal department?
I want to provide the best facilities to customers. I will yearn for this and make my staff follow the same.
