Stagnant water in the premises of the Government Multi Specialty Hospital,Sector 16 is posing a serious threat to patients admitted to the hospital. While the UT Health department is quick to launch a drive to pull up residents who allow stagnant water as it leads to mosquito breeding,it has failed to notice still water on its premises between the nursing institute and the gynaecology OPD.
Sources say that this could be a serious threat to patients admitted in nearby wards and thereby lead to malaria.
When contacted,Dr Rajiv Vadhera, medical superintendent cum director health services, said,The matter was brought to our notice today. The water is stagnant as the labourers of the contractor who are constructing the new OPD block are staying on the premises and are washing clothes and bathing in the area. We have already asked the maintenance department to get the area cleared and fumigated.
