  • Stalled work on the Indoor Stadium here is likely to re-start within a month.

The architect, Sunil Dey, who was in the city yesterday, has been asked to submit the drawings of the ceiling of this project within 10 days. This was decided yesterday in a meeting, in which MC commissioner GS Ghuman, architect Dey and few other MC officials were present. The contractor, Deepak Singhal has been given March 31 deadline to complete the project.

It needs to be mentioned that due to the delay in submission of drawings of the ceiling, the project has been lying in limbo since 2006, resulting in escalation of the project cost from Rs 16 crore to Rs 40 crore.

Sources said the architect was demanding payment of about Rs 10 lakh from MC for releasing the drawings as his fee, which has not been paid till date. Now, sources add, to break the impasse the the MC has decided to make some advance payment to the architect.

More than 80 shops will be built at the Indoor stadium under the project, which once auctioned will fetch about Rs 100 crore to MC.
