  • India achieved their second overseas victory under Anil Kumble when they won the second Test on Sunday. This was Kumble's fourth Test win in 11 matches as captain.

It was India's 11th victory in 28 Tests against Sri Lanka and third in 14 Tests in Sri Lanka.

It was India's 31st away win in 207 Tests, and 95th overall in 420 matches.

India have 5 overseas win each in England and Australia, 4 in New Zealand, West Indies and Bangladesh, 3 in Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka, 2 in Pakistan and 1 in South Africa.

Muttiah Muralitharan became the first bowler to take 750 wickets in Test cricket when he had Sourav Ganguly stumped.

Harbhajan Singh’s 10 for 153 are the best Test bowling figures by an Indian against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka. It was also Harbhajan's first five wicket haul in a Test away from home.
