State funeral,flags at half mast in states

The Cabinet also resolved that the departed leader be accorded a state funeral,that flags be flown at half mast in Delhi and all state capitals on September 3 and 4 and that all Central Government offices in Andhra Pradesh remain closed on September 4.

“Dr Rajasekhara Reddy has passed away in tragic circumstances. He was at the peak of his political career and popularity when the hand of fate intervened. In his death,the country has lost an eminent political leader,a farsighted statesman,an astute administrator,a compassionate human being and,above all,a friend of the poor and the downtrodden. The Cabinet places on record its deep sense of grief and loss and extends its sincere condolences to the family of Dr Rajasekhara Reddy and the people of Andhra Pradesh,” the Cabinet said in a resolution.
