1,100 hectares of land already allotted to 28 industrial houses to establish projects
The state government has placed on fast track the development of the Dahej multi-product Special Economic Zone (SEZ) being set up near Bharuch in south Gujarat. Already, 1,100 of the total 1,719 hectares of land have been allotted to 28 industrial houses to establish their projects there.
The Dahej SEZ is being developed by Dahej SEZ Limited, a company jointly promoted by the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) and ONGC. The co-developers in the SEZ are: Torrent Energy Ltd for power plant and power distribution, Gujarat State Petronet Ltd (GSPL) for gas distribution, and Dahej Hospitality Pvt Ltd and M/s Sapthagiri Hospitality Pvt Ltd for hospitality.
Dahej SEZ Ltd’s Chief Executive Officer R J Shah said: “As many as 28 industrial houses have already been allotted land to set up their shops in the SEZ, while land allotment to seven others is under process. Of the total Rs 24,000 crore proposed to be invested in the SEZ, an investment of Rs 1,700 crore has come in as these industrialists have just started construction on their units.”
Shah told Newsline on Wednesday that the work on internal infrastructure — RCC roads, streetlights, water distribution network, sewage water disposal facility and effluent disposal line/underground drainage – is going on in full swing in the entire SEZ area. It is expected to be completed by the year-end. Work on the laying of the gas distribution line and telecommunication and data transmission network will begin as soon as the Centre gives its nod for the same.
