Senior RJD leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh charged the Bihar government of “sabotaging” NREGA scheme in the state which has been mired in “corruption due to its indifferent attitude” towards the scheme.
“National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) Scheme has been sabotaged by the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar due to its indifferent attitude…and the scheme has become the centre of corruption which has been vindicated in CAG’s report,” Singh,a former Union Rural Development minister and RJD Lok Sabha MP,said.
Addressing hundreds of party workers and supporters who have staged a sit-in against recent Khagaria massacre and boat mishap,Singh said the scheme,”which has been nationally acclaimed, has come a cropper in the state due to rampant corruption,as its being non-transparent,having no provision of strict vigilance,or awareness and people’s participation.
The RJD leader said that Khagaria massacre,in which 16 people were killed, would not have occurred had the state government been sincere towards the resolution of the problem (land dispute).
The Nitish Kumar government had the knowledge about the dispute but it did not take timely and appropriate action,Singh alleged and added that Kumar was trying to befool the people of the state by transferring the officers.
