After the Union government, now the state too has directed the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to speed up work on the Metro rail project in the city.
The state has urged the civic body to register the special purpose vehicle (SPV) with immediate effect and submit the
proposal of route-one from
Pimpri-Chinchwad to Swargate for government's approval.
A high-powered committee chaired by state chief secretary Jayant Kumat Banthia took review of the process initiated by the civic body for implementation of the project on Monday.
He said the work done towards formation of SPV was discussed in the meeting.
"The civic administration has been asked to submit the proposal of Metro route from Pimpri Chinchwad to Swargate at the earliest for the approval of the state cabinet. After cabinet's approval, it will be forwarded to the Central government," an official said.
The civic body was earlier directed to speed up the formation of SPV for Metro rail, said Banthia, adding that PMC has been asked to appoint the officer of special duty for the project with immediate effect.
