•Virender Sehwag became only the third batsman to score two triple centuries in the history of Test cricket.

• Sehwag’s first triple century came against Pakistan at Multan in 2003-04. He made 309 runs in 531 minutes off 375 balls with 39 fours and six sixes.

• The hard hitting batsman’s second triple century came in the 92nd innings of his 55th Test match. It was the 22nd triple century in 1870 Test matches.

• Australian Sir Don Bradman was the first batsman to score two triple hundreds in Test cricket. He made 334 against England at Leeds in 1930 and 304 against the same opponent and at the same ground in 1934. Brian Lara is the only other batsman to have achieved the feat.

• By reaching 300 runs off 278 balls with 42 fours and five sixes, Sehwag also scored the fastest triple century in Test in terms of balls. England’s Walter Hammond, who completed his triple century in 288 minutes during his unbeaten 336-run knock against New Zealand at Auckland in 1932-33, holds the record of fastest triple century in terms of time.
