Jacques Kallis became the first South African and seventh batsman overall to score 30 or more centuries in Test cricket.
The right-hand middle-order batsman achieved this feat in the 200th innings of his 118th Test, making 132 off 275 balls with 14 four and a six on the second day of the second Test match against India at Sardar Patel Gujarat Stadium, Ahmedabad on Friday.
The other batsmen who have scored more than 30 hundreds in Tests before Kallis include Sachin Tendulkar (India, 39 in 147 Tests), Sunil Gavaskar (India,34 in 125), Brian Lara (West Indies, 34 in 131), Ricky Ponting (Australia, 34 in 116), Steve Waugh (Australia, 32 in 168) and Matthew Hayden (Australia, 30 in 94)
Kallis has scored 15 centuries in 107 innings in 65 Test matches at home and the other 15 in 93 innings and 53 away Tests.
Abraham de Villiers became the first South African batsman to score a double hundred against India in Tests. The right-handed middle-order batsman is unbeaten on 217 off 333 balls with 17 fours and two sixes.
Herschelle Gibbs, who made 196 at Port Elizabeth in 2001-02, held the previous record of highest individual score for South Africa against India in Tests.
De Villiers also became the 13th South African batsman to score a double hundred in Tests. His previous highest score in Test cricket was 178 in 551 minutes off 352 balls with 15 fours and a six against the West Indies in Bridgetown in 2004-05.
