‘Stratfor email disputes Osama burial’

Leaked email suggests he was cremated in US not buried at sea

In a new twist to the Osama bin Laden saga, emails leaked from an intelligence analysis firm suggest that the body of the al-Qaeda leader was actually sent to the US for cremation and not buried at sea.

According to the emails,Osama was killed in a US raid on his compound in Abbottabad,Pakistan, and was transported to the US and cremated. The emails were allegedly obtained by the hacker group Anonymous from Stratfor,a private organisation dealing with analysis of intelligence and geopolitical situations, the Daily Mail reported.

WikiLeaks has released the emails exchanged within Stratfor on May 2,the day Osama was killed. Following his death, the US said he was buried at sea in accordance with Islamic tradition.

However,Stratfor’s vice-president for intelligence,Fred Burton reportedly said he doubts the White House version of what happened. Burton, says the body was “bound for Dover,[Delaware on (a) CIA plane” and “onward to Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Bethesda (Maryland)”.

The claims are sure to stoke conspiracies, especially since the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology closed its doors on September 15,2011,four months after Osama’s death. In another email,Burton said: “If body dumped at sea, which I doubt, the touch is very Adolph Eichman like. The Tribe did the same thing with the Nazi’s ashes”.
