They might have made the bottom spot of the points table their own for some time now, but Bangalore Royal Challengers are not hoisting the white flag just yet. In an informal interaction with the media here today, Mark Boucher, Jacques Kallis and Misbah-ul-Haq shared opinions and positive vibes on the journey so far, explaining that the below-par show till now might just be turning around.
Undoubtedly, the record has improved, if only in the margins of defeat. Having lost the inaugural tie by a massive 140 runs, they made that up by a five-wicket victory, but lost the next one again, by seven wickets.
Citing the last two losses to Chennai and Delhi by 13 and 10 runs respectively as a sign of improvement, Kallis showed confidence in captain Rahul Dravid.
“We had a couple of close games and that shows we are picking up after a poor kick-off. Last night we fielded badly and that cost us the match. Twenty20 is very demanding for the captain as reaction times are very less. Considering that, Rahul has been as good as anyone,” he said.
The veteran all-rounder rubbished the idea that a tiring schedule is taking a toll on the players and kept up the spirit this swashbuckling format has brought along.
“The excitement is unbelievable and it’s going to give the game a global identity,” he added.
