Student dies after visit to hospital in Gurgaon,doctor detained

Angry residents protested outside the hospital,demanding that the doctor who treated the boy be arrested.

A 24-year old student of World Institute of Technology and Management died after he returned from a hospital in Badshahpur,Gurgaon,on Tuesday morning. Angry residents protested outside the hospital,demanding that the doctor who treated the boy be arrested.

According to police,Dinesh had gone to the hospital to consult a doctor after he complained of chest pain the night before. When he returned from the hospital,his family said,he complained of chest pain and collapsed.

Dinesh’s brother Rajesh said: “He was alright as he rode to the hospital on a bike at 7.30 am. I was with Dinesh when he visited the doctor. Dinesh’s ECG report said his vitals were normal and the doctor said he had chest pain due to acidity. He gave him an injection and some medicines. He asked Dinesh to rest at home.”

The two then returned to their home in Bhondsi. Dinesh took the first dose of his medicine,his brother said,and collapsed soon after. He was rushed to the hospital. Family members alleged that the hospital said Dinesh should be shifted to another hospital as they lacked the facility to treat him. Dinesh’s relatives alleged that the hospital did not have an ambulance either. Dinesh was declared dead on arrival at the other hospital.

Police said the doctor who treated Dinesh had been detained. An FIR will be registered after the post-mortem report arrives. Angry residents of Bhondsi gathered outside the hospital and accused the doctor of negligence. They protested for around four hours. Police reached the spot and detained the doctor.
