Flouting the various norms prohibiting corporal punishment for students,a teacher with a Ghaziabad-based school beat up a 15-year-old student on school premises.
The students relatives allege that boy has become partially deaf, with no hearing ability in his right ear,as a result of the punishment meted out to him.
The student,Prateek Tiwaris father claimed the boys right ear drum was damaged after an English teacher beat him for making noise during lunch break.
Prateek is a Class XI student at Swami Vivekanand Vidya Mandir School in Rajendra Nagar,Sahibabad.
My son was blue when he returned home. He complained of severe pain in his right ear. The medical report shows zero hearing capacity as the ear drum is damaged, Prateeks father Vijendra Tiwari said.
According to Tiwari,Prateek was beaten as he and his friends were making noise and disturbing the teacher who was taking a class in the next room.
Pradeep Kaushik,an English teacher with the school was taking a class during lunch time in the room next to Prateeks class. He heard the students shouting and playing and got hold of Prateek. He took him to a classroom where Prateek was beaten mercilessly, the father said.
According to Prateek,he pleaded with the teacher not to beat him so mercilessly. He dragged me by my hair and slapped me hard, the student said.
The family later approached the school administration asking for teachers suspension or transfer. We sent our children to this school as we thought they would become good citizens by learning from the teachers with principles. But the school administration refused to hear us. They offered us compensation in return, Tiwari alleged.
The incident happened on October 31.
After the talks with the school failed, the family lodged a complaint with the Sahibabad police station on Sunday night.
An FIR has been registered under Sections 325 and 326 of IPC,related to punishment for voluntarily causing grievous hurt and voluntarily causing hurt by weapons or means.
Surajpal Singh,SHO Sahibabad police station said,a case has been registered and we are still investigating the matter.
Despite repeated attempts, school authorities could not be contacted.
