Students excel in CBSE Class XII exams,many score full marks

The students who scored 98 per cent marks in English are Nirupam Kaur,Harmilanjot,and Sayush Anand of Sacred Heart Convent Senior Secondary School,Sarabha Nagar,and Manmeet Singh of Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School,Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar.

The students have attributed their success to hard work.

Manmeet Singh said,“I practiced English grammar and composition a lot and it really paid off. I am the only one from my school to get 98 per cent in English.”

Dr D V Jindal,former professor of English at S C D Government College for Boys,said: “In case of language,there can be no standard onset,but if the marking scheme permits objective-type marking,where any correct answer is given full points,a student can score 100 per cent marks.”

Gursimar Singh and Gurjot Singh of Guru Nanak Public School,Sarabha Nagar,scored full marks in Mathematics; Supreet of BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School,Shatsri Nagar scored 100 per cent in Financial Marketing while Namita and Vaibhav of the same school scored 99 per cent marks in Mathematics.

Ayushi Katyal of Sacred Heart Convent,Sarabha Nagar,secured full marks in Business Studies and 99 per cent in Mathematics; Smriti Gupta of the same school scored 100 per cent in Chemistry. Gurpriyal and Paramveer Singh secured 99 per cent marks in Computer Science Informatics Practices; Singh Kushagra Maini and Neharika Arora of Sacred Heart Convent,Sarabha Nagar,got 99 per cent marks in Biology.

Manmeet of Sacred Heart BRS Nagar got 96 per cent in Chemistry; Akshit Peer of BCM Chandigarh Road scored 99 per cent in Chemistry and 96 per cent in Physics; Bhavneet Kaur of SHC,Sarabha Nagar,scored 99 per cent in Economics; and Jasleen Kaur of GNPS also scored 99 per cent in Economics.

Ashmeet Kaur of Sacred Heart Convent Senior Secondary School,Sarabha Nagar scored the highest in Accountancy in the district with 99 per cent marks; she scored 98 per cent in English.

Commenting on these achievements,Sanjay Shroff,a renowned computer educationist said,“The structure of question paper as well as the CBSE course curriculum has been designed for good scores. It is relevant also. It helps to differentiate a mediocre student from an intelligent one. The old theories of evaluation have no relevance and the new format should be welcomed.”

He added,“I strongly advocate this type of marking. When we prepare a student to get 100 per cent marks,why should we deprive him/her from obtaining this score?”

Giving credit to the new CBSE pattern,Rajeev Chauhan Principal of Sat Paul Mittal School said,“The concept is more objective type and this has indeed benefited the students.”
