Students of DU held a candle light march to Jantar Mantar demanding an unbiased trial for Anand Jon.

Students of Delhi University held a candle light march to Jantar Mantar on Tuesday evening, demanding an unbiased trial for the designer Anand Jon who has been in jail in US for nearly two years now.

Around 300 students and young professionals and community members from their native state Kerala marched to Jantar Mantar demanding Justice. Among others, family members, friends of Anand Jon participated in this protest rally. The march was lead by students of Faculty of Law, University of Delhi.

Anand Jon’s mother, Shashi Ebraham, said “Most of the plaintiffs have changed their statements in court, more than once and the court has not received any concrete evidence against Anand Jon. Further, he has been kept in a small 6 feet X 4 feet cell, which is against the human rights of the victim Anand Jon. We have petitioned to various NGOs, Human Rights Groups and even the Government in USA and India; but all has lead to no positive response. Where should I go now?”

Interestingly, the charges were made on him when he was just 15 days away from making a deal with Wall Street worth millions of dollars for the launch of his high-end designer brand ‘AJ’.

Jon has come out clean in the lie detector polygraph test, while none of the plaintiff models have gone through the lie detection polygraph test.

The family members and friends of Anand Jon in USA plan to meet President Barack Obama to seek intervention into this gross Human Rights Violation.

Useless storyBy: Ajay | 02-Mar-2009 Reply | Forward 1. There are no jail cells in US which are "6 feet by 4 feet". 2. Polygraph is useless. It is very easy to fool it.3. Nobody cares if Jon was close to signing some deal.
Lie detector evidence not admissableBy: T. Varadaraj | 01-Mar-2009 Reply | Forward Polygraphs (lie detector tests) are not admissible as evidence in U.S. courts because of their unreliability. You would think the students who are protesting would know this simple fact. And, as Anand Jon's cohorts are finding out, it's not as easy to manipulate the U.S. justice system by throwing out influential names as it is in India. The celebrated director Roman Polanski was convicted of having sex with a minor three decades ago. He is still wanted in the U.S.. Anand Jon did the crime and has been convicted. He will do the time.
Where is the journalistic rigorBy: CommonMan | 27-Feb-2009 Reply | Forward I am amazed at the lack of any journalistic rigor in this article. The correspondent has basically regurgitated the talking points of one side (outside of the quotes) without checking the facts or providing any context."Interestingly, the charges were made on him when he was just 15 days away from making a deal with Wall Street ..." What is the implication? Were these charges nefarious or designed to scuttle some deal?"Jon has come out clean in the lie detector polygraph test, while none of the plaintiff models have gone through the lie detection polygraph test." Not true - repeating a rumor/falsehood does not make it a fact. This is being circulated by Jon's side and it is misleading and should not be used in a factual manner in the article.
Who knows justice is being doneBy: shantam i singh | 26-Feb-2009 Reply | Forward If justice is being done keeping in mind the feelings of loved ones, there will be no criminal in the world, everybody will go free. Injustice can happen any where but with the best advocates available for Anand jon, one cannot blaim the American justice system. America is not Kerala..it means it is not the land of gods but of human intelligence and swift justice sytem.
ReBy: Mat | 27-Feb-2009 Reply | Forward What "human intelligence and swift justice system" are you talking about. They are finding out in many cases that after executing the prisoner, the executed person was innocent. You call this "human intelligence and swift justice system". Bakwas.
there are rightsBy: gokul | 02-Mar-2009 Reply | Forward All this drama is being staged by his mother who is now trying to blame the US system and wants it to be like the failed Indian system where influence, money and power can help you stay away from Bars like sanhay dutt, This is not going to work in the US. President Obama is not going to help a suspected serial rapist who has a very bad name out there, The mother should have reformed her child rahter than having used him to make quick bucks and buy false fame.
