  • Students of a High School in Binpur on Friday locked up classrooms, which are used as camps by security forces engaged in anti-Maoist operations at Lalgarh.

The students locked the rooms to protest against disruption of studies.

The incident has led the state government to announce that the forces would be moved out within two weeks. The police also resorted to a lathicharge to disperse the students and unlocked the classrooms.

“Though the administration has promised to evacuate educational institutions, security forces and the police have been occupying the schools which have made students suffer,” People’s Committee against Police Atrocities chief Chhatradhar Mahato said.

Later, state Home Secretary Ardhendu Sen said that the security forces will move out of schools in Lalgarh in two weeks.
