  • As per the data available at RPF division office at CST, in January 2008, the RPF arrested and prosecuted 3,091 commuters for crossing the tracks under section 147 of the Indian Railways Act and collected around Rs 7,68,200 as fine.

On Wednesday, as many as 100 commuters were detained by RPF at Dadar station. They were all released after a counselling session.

Kusum Rameshwar Rao, a standard 7 student, was happy that she has done some social work. “I gave a red rose to a woman caught by RPF. When I told her that she should not make this mistake as we all care for her, she became very emotional,” she said.

“People do not know that their petty mistakes may ruin an entire family. Before crossing the tracks, they should realise that there is somebody waiting for them,” said Nikita Kadve and Archana Sawant, students of the same school.
