Luis Suarez on Tuesday accused Liverpool of breaking an agreement in his contract by refusing to let him leave,saying he had been promised permission to join another club if the Reds failed to reach the Champions League. In his first public comments since Arsenal made a 40-million pound bid,Suarez told The Guardian that he is ready to take his case to the Premier League,and called on Liverpool to honour our agreement. Last year I had the opportunity to move to a big European club and I stayed on the understanding that if we failed to qualify for the Champions League the following season Id be allowed to go, Suarez was quoted as saying. I gave absolutely everything last season but it was not enough to give us a top-four finish now all I want is for Liverpool to honor our agreement.
Italian federation acts tough,bans player for 10 matches
Italian authorities have handed out a 10-match ban to a player from amateur club Matera for racially insulting an opponent,under new tougher penalties introduced to combat racism. Midfielder Gaetano Iannini was given a red card in the first half of an Italian Cup first round match between Matera and Sudtirol on Sunday and his unprecedented 10-match ban was announced by the leagues disciplinary board in a statement on Wednesday. Iannini will be suspended for 10 matches after making a racially discriminatory comment against an opponent in the 18th minute of the first half, the league said.

Anzhi Makhachkala could be forced to sell their top players after billionaire owner Suleiman Kerimov showed his frustration with the clubs lack of success by drastically cutting its financial lifeline. Club chairman Konstantin Remchukov suggested on Twitter that Anzhi planned a fire sale of players to trim costs and would bring back Gadzhi Gadzhiyev,the manager who left the club in September 2011. The main news is that there will be a reorganisation at Anzhi. Many expensive players will go,and the budget will be around 50-70 million dollars a year, Remchukov tweeted.

The striker has been named in a 23-man squad for a friendly against Mexico in New York next Wednesday,for the first time since the tournament in South Africa where the Ivorians were runaway favourites but were bundled out in the quarter-final by eventual winners Nigeria.
