Relatives of “disappeared persons” on Friday threatened to immolate themselves, if the J-K government failed to tell them the whereabouts of their missing kin within a month.
They took to streets in protest against “government apathy” in the matter. “We want the government to inform us whether our sons are dead or alive,” said Parveena Ahanger, Chairperson of the Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP). “If they are alive, we want to meet them. If they are dead return us their mortal remains”. Ahanger said relatives of disappeared persons would commit suicide in front of the J-K High Court in Srinagar. More than 100 relatives of disappeared persons today assembled to discuss their strategy following the fake surrender expose.
They later marched towards the J-K High court and sat on dharna outside the court.
