Even as a magisterial inquiry is on,30-year-old Suman underwent third dialysis in the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research on Wednesday.

The doctors treating her at the PGI claim that the condition of Suman was improving, but the third dialysis was required to ensure her kidneys were able to function normally.

“After Suman was admitted here, she has been kept under medical surveillance. And after third dialysis, her condition has improved,” said a doctor at the PGI. On December 16,Suman,a resident of Colony 4 in Chandigarh, was transfused blood of another patient, her namesake,at the Government Multi Specialty Hospital (GMSH) resulting in the death of her nine-month-old fetus and damage to her kidneys.

As the negligence of the GMSH surfaced, the UT administration ordered a time-bound magisterial probe. The probe is being conducted by the SDM,south Vinod Kavele who has so far quizzed doctors, paramedical staff, blood bank officials and Suman’s husband Desh Raj.

The sources said that the inquiry officer has completed his investigation. Meanwhile,Desh Raj is furious with the the GMSH officials who according to him had promised to bear the expenses of Suman’s treatment. “I have been borrowing money for the treatment of Suman. Till today I have spent Rs 12,000 and the GMSH officials are not coming forward,” he said. “No official agency has approached me either.”
