It’s the last Sunday of the month,and the Chandigarh Creative Cinema Circle (4C) is ready for the show. On April 28,4C is hosting filmmaker Sanjay Arora,who has been part of the show business for more than 10 years. He began as a host for All India Radio,and went on to be part of several plays and mimes across India,and some plays and TV serials in Canada. He migrated to the US 10 years ago and earned a degree in electronic engineering and a diploma in filmmaking from the New York Film Academy. Arora also undertook courses in digital film editing from Detroit Film School,Michigan.
As an independent filmmaker,he has made documentaries on Kurukshetra and Khajuraho,and on the European cities of Luzon and Paris. So far,he has produced and directed five films Expression,Patience,Chase,Butterfly Wings and Once Again. Based on a true story,Butterfly Wings follows the life of Neha Bhatia,a free-spirited girl rendered in a quadri-paralysis and comatose state post an accident. Once Again is inspired by the teachings of Buddha as experienced through the films protagonist,Raj Malhotra,a self-centred company executive. Catch up with Arora and watch his films,4pm to 8pm,at Lala Lajpat Rai Bhawan,Sector 15,Chandigarh. Entry is open to all.
Double Delight
The second annual design collection show by the students of University Institute of Fashion Technology was presented on Friday evening. Titled Shears and Ruban,it was a showcase of styles modelled on select seasons an upcoming holiday or a specific venue (office,beach or cruise) and celebrated the cultural diversity with inspirations from the world over. Twenty-six designs were presented,starting with a womenswear line by Sarika Rana called Ode to Nature that saw luxurious glass nylon and shiny satin being used in shades of pink along with embroidery to create cocktail dresses. Purple Pink City was an ethnic wear collection by Neha Sharma showcasing Rajasthans palaces and monuments. Vibrancy of colours and energy of pop art came together in Art Attack by Jatinder Kaur. It incorporated red,orange,pink,blue,green and yellow. The hand-painted footwear added drama to the collection. The only menswear and kidswear collections were by Vikas Duhan and Poonam Sharma respectively.
