There are not many who mess with actor Sunny Deol on screen. Now it seems like not many should mess with him off screen as well. ‘Son Sunny’, a popular filler on Big 92.7 FM radio station — a spoof on Sunny Deol and father Dharmendra — has run into trouble as Deol is in no mood to listen to his family being mocked on national radio.
“I am not against mimicry. Several people mimic several actors. But when you hit below the belt and when it is not done in good humour, one should put an end to it,” Deol told a news conference on Tuesday.
Deol, who was accompanied by his lawyer Ashok Sarogi, said he had sent a legal notice to the radio station and added that the damages could go up to Rs 200 crore. “If the channel doesn’t respond in the next one week, we are going to take them to court,” said Sarogi, who also fought Manoj Kumar’s defamation case against producers of Om Shanti Om. “So far we haven’t heard from the channel. Once we hear from them, we will take further action.”
Deol said he had given it a lot of thought before deciding to take the station on. “I thought they would stop after a point. But now it has reached a point where they have crossed all limits and hurt the sentiments of my entire family.
“My entire family has listened to the show and found it objectionable. I am sure you too will if you listen.”
