Asian champion Suranjoy Singh defeated Olympic bronze medallist Vincenzo Picardi in the 51kg quarter-finals to assure himself of a medal in the season-ending Presidents Cup.

Representing the Asia One team,the Indian won 6-4 and will now take on Mexicos Braulio Avila,who is competing for Americas Two team,in the semi-final on Thursday.

I didnt even know he was an Olympic medallist. I just focussed on keeping my cool and that worked, the 22-year-old said.

Suranjoy led 4-1 at the end of the first three minutes,and though he adopted a guarded approach in the second round,the Indian denied his rival any chance of a return.

Congress releases second list for Bihar elections, fields 5 candidates

Congress released its second list of candidates for the Bihar Assembly elections, but the Mahagathbandhan is still working on a seat-sharing arrangement for the first phase of polling. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) will contest six seats on its own. The elections will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, with results on November 14.
