Surat police receive two bomb hoax calls

Two calls about bombs being planted at two places in the city put the police on the alert. The calls were later found to be hoax.

A telephone operator at the Uttran powerhouse in Amroli received a call on the office landline from an unknown person in the morning about a bomb being planted in the powerhouse.

Amroli Inspector V G Patel rushed to the site along with the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) and the Dog Squad and found nothing. The Amroli police have registered a complaint against the anonymous caller.

Another call was received by Mayur Sawani,the manager of the Samast Patidar Samaj Hall at Katargam today morning.

Katargam police officers along with the BDS team rushed to the site. The entire hall was vacated and the place was searched,but nothing was found. The police have registered a complaint against the unidentified caller.
