Noida was a stopover that its senior officials hadnt seen coming. CM Mayawati made a surprise visit to Gautam Budh Nagar around 11 am,before moving on to Ghaziabad. Residents were in for an unpleasant surprise as certain roads were blocked for the convoys movement.
The CMs helicopter landed at the Sector-32 city centre, where she criticised Noida officials for a broken divider. She also enquired about the lack of greenery by the roadside. She then made her way to the district hospital.
Thrown into a tizzy by the sudden visit, the hospital staff played host while she made a tour of the womens and general wards. She enquired about the availability of doctors and medicines, and the patients told her that they have been supplied sufficiently, said Meena Mishra,CMS of the district hospital. The Chief Minister reportedly berated the administration for the lack of cleanliness.
Spending 20 minutes there, she asked the cavalcade to turn towards the Sector-39 police station. Her first query there was about the crime registers. After scrutinising them, she asked the station house officer to get the thana divas register,in which complaints are registered on a monthly basis, said a police officer. There was no entry after August 2010.
On being asked, the SHO said they had been informed that thana divas was discontinued. Which government order said thana divas had been discontinued? Who was the SHO when it was discontinued? she asked. She then told an official to take down names of the circle officer, and present and previous SHOs.
