The third accused in the 1996 Suryanelli Rape Case, Dharmarajan, on Monday told a leading daily in Kerala that Rajya Sabha Chairman P J Kurien was involved.
The protests in the state has placed the Congress Party in a moral dilemma. Protests were staged outside the Kerala Assembly demanding Kurien''s removal. The police had to fire teargas shells to quell the protests.
In an interview given Mathrubhumi News from an unknown location in Mysore, Dharmarajan revealed that on January 19, Kurien travelled to the Kumili guest house in his Ambassador car at about 6.30 pm from Vandiperiyar.
Unni and Jamal had accompanied him in the journey in two cars. Kurien, Dharmarajan said spent over half-an-hour in the guest house with the girl.
Dharmarajan also said investigating officer Sibi Mathews was telling lies. Sibi Mathews wanted Kurien's name not to be revealed. But an officer of the probe team, K K Joshua, disagreed and wanted Kurien's name to be revealed.
Kurien was not produced in the identification parade.
Dharmarajan alleged that G Sukumaran Nair's statement was completely false and misled the judiciary for Kurien's sake.
He also said that a person named Bhaji, who had assaulted the victim was not P J Kurien and was another boy.
Dharmarajan also revealed that he would surrender before the police within two days.
