  • When Yogesh Naik (26) left for delivering milk to Sanatan Sanstha from his residence in Talauli village on his Honda Eterno scooter (GA-05-A-7800), his family thought he should be back home soon for Diwali. But they were shocked to learn that he was seriously injured in the Margao blast.

According to the Goa Police, the scooter was used by Yogesh, a suspect in the blast, for reaching Margao. He has been booked for the offence, but his condition is reported to be critical. He is admitted to the Goa Medical Hospital in Bamboli near Panaji.

“The scooter was bought by my brother Suresh (he has been picked up by the police for questioning) for Rs 22,000 from Nishad Bakle some three years ago. Yogesh used it to transport milk to the organisation,” says Laxmikant Naik, 40, the eldest of four Naik siblings who works as an accountant with a private firm in Panaji. Everyday, Yogesh used to supply 25 litres of milk to the organisation.

After passing Std 12, Yogesh did a course on how to educate mentally challenged students. He later taught such students at a school run by Lok Vishwas Pratishtan in Davli village in Ponda taluka. His day started with teaching his students at the school. But this was only a side job for Yogesh. With 15 cows and buffaloes and betelnut and coconut orchards, he helped his ailing father in looking after the family property.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Ravindra Patil says “apart from supplying milk to the outfit, Yogesh used to help circulate the organisation’s mouthpiece Sanatan Parbhat. He was an active member of the organisation”.

    ... contd.
