Sweet battle

As the state gears up for the Assembly elections, a shop in south Kolkata has started selling sandesh in CPM and Trinamool Congress party symbols. The sweets,made of churned milk,have become a hit among the buyers. Interestingly,the sandesh carrying CPM symbol weighs less than that of Trinamool’s flower symbol. The one with CPM sickle and hammer symbol weighs 2.5 kg and cost Rs 800,while that of Trinamool’s weighs 3kg and is priced at Rs 1,000. The owner of shop,Mintu Ghosh (in the photo),wants to gift it to both Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee and Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee. Ghosh says that he has been able to sell four to five such trays of “political” sandesh everyday.
