Swift crowned breakthrough star of the year

Taylor Swift has been named the breakthrough star of the year in a new online poll.

Country singer Taylor Swift is having a great year end as she has been named the breakthrough star of the year in a new online poll,beating the likes of Susan Boyle and Lady Gaga.

The ‘Love Story’ hitmaker garnered 43 per cent of the vote in the survey conducted by PopEater.com,finishing ahead of Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle,who gathered 29 per cent votes,and Lady GaGa,who landed 25 per cent,Contactmusic reported.

The 20-year-old star’s popularity has soared in the past one year thanks to her Grammy-nominated album ‘Fearless’,the best-selling release of 2009.

Swift also won the ‘Best Female Video’ award at MTV Video Music Awards recently for ‘You Belong With Me’,one of the tracks from the album.

The Kardashian sisters – Kim,Khloe and Kourtney – were tied for fourth place in the list of breakthrough stars with ‘Star Trek’ actor Chris Pine.
