Indian swimmers began their challenge in the 6th Asian age-group swimming championship at Tokyo on a high,winning three golds,1 silver and 5 bronze medals on the opening day. Gagan AP won gold in the 800m freestyle in Group I,setting a new meet record of 08:26:57. In the 20m freestyle Group I,Aaron Agnel D’Souza clocked 01:52:74 for a new meet record. Virdhawal Khade also won gold with a new meet record (00:52:77) in the 100m butterfly Open Group. Sandeep Sejwal won silver in the 50m breaststroke (00:27:40).
