RSS journal Organiser has launched a thinly veiled attack on NDA’s prime ministerial candidate L K Advanis Internet election campaign strategy in its latest issue, stating that overdependence on hi-tech and affluence more than that on the grassroots constituency-level management damaged the party prospects.
Politics is played out in the field, not in air-conditioned chat rooms, says the RSS mouthpiece in an apparent reference to Advanis website and the intensive online campaign undertaken to complement conventional modes of campaign.
The editorial, however, makes no mention of the websites floated by other BJP leaders, including that of Murli Manohar Joshi, after the launch of Advanis online campaign.
The RSS journal also slams the BJPs obsession with media endorsement.
There is a disconnect between the party and its mass base. The BJP is often seen as a victim of adverse publicity… The desperate BJP has developed a self-defeating obsession for media endorsement. Perhaps this was one of the reasons for the party losing most in urban constituencies, claims the RSS journal.
The RSS mouthpiece also adds that the BJP failed to read the national mood and the fact that the coalition era in the country may have run its course.
Before the counting of votes we were deluged by experts opinionating that the national election is nothing but the aggregate of 28 state elections… A great lesson of this election is the beginning of the end of the coalition era. The craze will be for parties with a pan-Indian vision and presence. Instead of wasting time coaxing and cajoling recalcitrant partners, national parties like the BJP can now concentrate on building up the organisational structure in states where it is weak, adds the RSS journal.
Meanwhile, the BJP will hold its next national executive meeting on June 20 and 21. The session will discuss poll debacle and its future roadmap.
