Indian Hotels, owners of the terror-ravaged Taj Mahal Palace and Tower, began the risk assessment of their property in Mumbai after taking over its control from security agencies on Monday.
According to Taj Group of Hotels, certain parts of the property are still inaccessible, either due to the continuing security investigations or for safety reasons. “Access to hotel buildings is only being given to a limited number of specialist personnel. This is due to the need to remove all potential sources of risk arising from the attack,” the company said.
According to industry sources, while the old wing of Taj which suffered extensive damage will take some time for renovation, the new wing is expected to become operational within some weeks.
Meanwhile, shares of Indian Hotels Company remained subdued on Monday with the scrip falling another 0.62 per cent to Rs 39.95.
