Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy,Farooq Abdullah, said on Friday that there has been no change in the stance of Pakistan over Kashmir and the

has been no change in Yusuf Raza Geelani’s stand. He will continue to say that till he dies. That doesn’t worry me.”

He said that Pakistan should show more action on terror for India to begin the talks. “Prime Minister is visiting Moscow and we expect that there will be

a meeting with Pakistan President there,” adding the dialogue was the only way to resolve the disputes between India and Pakistan.

He also attacked People’s Democratic party (PDP) for espousing the policy of separatists. “I don’t know how much will Hurriyat hear from PDP,” he said.

Former Chief Minister also welcomed the acknowledgement of people’s demand that the police in Jammu and Kashmir should be brought to the forefront in tackling

militancy. He said,“The visit of Home Minister to Kashmir was good. He has acknowledged the people’s demand that police should play a main role and central

forces should be back.”

“Ultimately situation is going to come to a point where the Armed Forces special powers act need to be withdrawn,” he said.

Abdullah also said that his Ministry has chalked out a plan for Jammu and Kashmir to provide electricity through alternate sources in villages in Jammu

and Kashmir which have so far remained un-electrified. “We have devised a plan and we will call Chief Minister to Delhi or I will go to Kashmir to discuss

with him the plan,” Farooq said.

He,however, refused to comment over the statements that the unrest in Kashmir Valley was for destabilizing the NC-Congress coalition government in Jammu

and Kashmir. “It will not be good for me to talk over the Shopian incident especially when the matter is sub-judice. Let the inquiry report of the incident

come,” he said.

Earlier addressing a largely attended public rally outside the NC headquarter at Jammu,Farooq said that NC and Congress should work together and strengthen

their ties down to the grass root level for efficient functioning of government.

“For the last six months we were busy with the elections and now is the time that we should work for the people and both MLAs and MLCs of the NC should

ensure that they strengthen the hands of government.”

He said that there were many misgivings about his Ministry among the people adding that it was for the first time there is a Cabinet Minister for the New

and Renewable energy.

He said that there was a lot of scope for working for this Ministry especially when the conventional energy sources were depleting and even the oil rich

countries like UAE were depending on alternate sources of fuel.
